The South African Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to the promotion of Clinical Biochemistry and Chemical Pathology in Africa. The SAACB is affiliated to the IFCC. The membership of the association is open to scientists, technologists and medical personnel who have an interest in diagnostic clinical chemistry and chemical pathology. In addition, corporate membership is also available to any interested corporate bodies and companies. The Association provides a forum for intellectual and scientific interchange, is responsible for organising and contributing to the annual South African Pathology Congress and also makes available a number of educational awards to eligible individuals.
The IFCC is a worldwide umbrella organization in the field of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. It brings together over 100 National Societies and Affiliates from 90 countries, 6 Regional Federations as well as 46 Corporate Members. IFCC is a leading scientific organization specializing in the area of laboratory test standardization and offering educational programs and scientific conferences for clinical laboratory specialists and trainees worldwide. IFCC offers National Society Members from developing countries scientific exchanges and travel scholarships as well as visiting lecturer programs. SAACB members who were paid up for 2017 and 2018 will be eligible for a meeting registration discount at FSASP 2018 (PathCape 2018) amounting to R1820. Members must pay the registration fee, attend the meeting and claim the discount retrospectively. If the meeting is not attended, the member will not be eligible.
